How to Use Facebook Page Insights to See How Your Fans Are Engaging With Your Brand

Facebook Page InsightsFacebook Page Insights are used to track activities going on in a page. These are very basic stats and important indexes that a business owner with a presence on Facebook needs to be familiar with. They help the decision-making process with valuable customer information.

On June 19, 2013, Facebook announced latest upgrades to their Insights page. A new and useful upgrade is the count of people engaged by your page. It combines the total number of people who shared, commented and liked the post you created. The numbers are also broken down individually for each of these activities.

Some Demographics and References

Within the User Insights, the demographic data of your page for the audience is available. It indicates information on sex and age of your followers. It is not only important that you are aware of this data, but it could also be useful in making marketing decisions. Not that every major marketing decision should be made just on this information; however, the data could be useful for social media campaigns and product development guidance. The demographic profile takes into account the percentage of males and females, along with their age that range from 13 to 17 years, 18-24 years, 25-34 years, 35-44 years, 45-54 years, and 55+ years.

External references of your page found within User Insight let you know where your Facebook traffic originates. Your company site should ideally be the top result. Often Google will be at the top of this list, as people are using it to search for your company.

Media and tabs

It is possible to see the tabs visited by your viewers within the User Insight. The data provided here can offer you some useful details, as it allows you to see where your followers navigate on your Page. In addition, you will also know whether they are able to access the information you want them to discover. You can adjust the application icons to align with their preferences.

Another type of information available within User Insights is the type of Media – Photos, Audio, and Video – consumed by your viewers. This information will reveal the effectiveness of different types of media on your page, so that you may tailor your content accordingly.

The Number of Messages

You also have an Interactions tab. Within this tab you can see statistics in the context of individual messages you have posted on Facebook. This is quite a useful area within Insights because you can see clearly the failure and success of your content.

The focused and specified information you access here can be critical to the success of your business, as it will reveal specifically what posts are engaging your followers. The best-performing messages should attract your attention and be used to model future strategy.
